Financial Closure Achieved for Two Under-Construction Hydropower Projects in Dolakha

Kathmandu, Ashad 4, 2082 BS — In a major boost to Nepal’s hydropower development drive, two under-construction projects in Dolakha district — the Mathillo Sagu Khola Small Hydropower Project (10 MW) and the Pegu Khola Small Hydropower Project (3 MW) — have successfully achieved financial closure with Nepal Infrastructure Bank Limited (NIFRA) on 3rd Ashad, 2082.

The Mathillo Sagu Khola Small Hydropower Project is being developed by Alamphu Jalabidhyut Bikas Company Pvt. Ltd., while the Pegu Khola Small Hydropower Project is under the ownership of Bigu Hydro Venture Pvt. Ltd. Both companies are subsidiaries operating under the broader vision of the Aviyan Group, with a mission to harness Nepal’s hydropower potential for sustainable energy development.

This financial closure marks a significant milestone in the journey of both projects, ensuring the availability of necessary debt financing to proceed with full-scale construction works. The agreement follows a detailed technical, financial, and legal due diligence process conducted by NIFRA, including comprehensive site inspections and project appraisals.

Representatives from both development companies expressed confidence in the projects’ successful execution. “This achievement not only secures the funding needed for timely implementation but also reflects institutional trust in our technical readiness and long-term viability,” stated the project coordinators.

With funding now secured, both projects are set to accelerate construction activities — including civil works, hydro-mechanical and electro-mechanical installation, and transmission infrastructure — in line with their targeted completion timelines.

The partnership with NIFRA highlights the critical role of infrastructure-focused banking in realizing Nepal’s renewable energy ambitions and creating long-term value through public-private collaboration.
